250 2.1.5 Success

Recipient address OK

The receiving server accepted the recipient address during the RCPT TO stage. This is the response a verification check is looking for to classify an address as deliverable.

Common causes

  • The mailbox exists and is able to receive mail.
  • The domain is a catch-all and accepts all addresses regardless of validity (check separately for this).

What to do

No action needed for a real send. For verification purposes, a 250 response alone does not rule out a catch-all domain — cross-check with a deliberately invalid address at the same domain if catch-all status matters for your use case.

FAQ

Does a 250 response guarantee the email was read?

No — it only confirms the receiving server accepted the address at the SMTP level. It says nothing about whether the message lands in the inbox versus spam, or whether anyone reads it.
