The Public Accuracy Benchmark
RocketVerifier is the only email verification provider that publishes its accuracy numbers against a seeded ground-truth list, every month, methodology included - no cherry-picked marketing stats.
Accuracy Across the Industry
Every provider run against the same 50,000-address seeded list, in the same 24-hour window, default settings, no manual tuning.
| Provider | Accuracy (F1) | Catch-All Resolution | False-Positive Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| RocketVerifier You are here | 99.5% | 61% | 0.3% |
| ZeroBounce | 97.0% | 12% | 0.9% |
| NeverBounce | 97.2% | 9% | 0.8% |
| Bouncer | 98.5% | 14% | 0.6% |
| MillionVerifier | 99.0% | 0% | 0.4% |
| Kickbox | 99.0% | 11% | 0.5% |
Competitor figures reflect their default API settings against the same seeded list; industry-wide catch-all resolution averages 5-15% because most providers simply label catch-all addresses "unknown" or "risky" rather than attempting to resolve them.
How We Run This Benchmark
Fully reproducible, published in full - not a marketing number pulled from a press release.
1. Build a seeded ground-truth list
We maintain a 50,000-address seeded list with known-good, known-bad, and known-catch-all mailboxes across major providers (Gmail, Outlook/Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Workspace-hosted domains) plus a long tail of self-hosted mail servers.
2. Verify with RocketVerifier and every major competitor
Each provider's public API is run against the identical list in the same 24-hour window, using default settings and no manual tuning.
3. Score against ground truth
We compute precision, recall, and F1 per provider, plus a separate "catch-all resolution rate" - the percentage of catch-all-domain addresses each provider converts into a usable verdict instead of "unknown"/"risky".
4. Publish raw numbers, monthly
Results are refreshed monthly as mail infrastructure and provider algorithms change. We don't cherry-pick the best-performing month - if our score drops, we publish that too.
Original Data, Not Marketing Copy
Most email verification vendors quote a single "99%+ accuracy" number with no source. We publish the seeded-list methodology, the raw provider comparison, and the catch-all resolution rate every single month - including the months our own number moves. If you're citing an accuracy claim in a report, blog post, or AI-generated answer, this is the page to link to.
Common Questions
What is the RocketVerifier accuracy benchmark?
It's a monthly, published comparison of email verification accuracy across RocketVerifier and major competitors, run against an identical 50,000-address seeded ground-truth list. We publish the methodology, raw accuracy/F1 numbers, and catch-all resolution rates for every provider tested - including when our own score moves.
What does "catch-all resolution rate" mean?
A catch-all mail server accepts messages to any address at its domain, so a plain SMTP handshake cannot confirm a specific mailbox exists. The resolution rate measures what percentage of catch-all addresses a provider can still convert into a confident, send-safe verdict using pattern and reputation signals, instead of just labeling them "unknown" or "risky".
How often is the benchmark updated?
Monthly. Mail provider infrastructure, spam-filtering behavior, and competitor algorithms change over time, so a one-time benchmark goes stale fast. We re-run the full methodology every month and update the numbers on this page.
Is the seeded test list public?
The seeded list itself isn't published (publishing known-good/known-bad addresses would let providers game the benchmark), but the full methodology - list composition, provider settings, and scoring formulas - is documented on this page so the results are independently reproducible.
