Email Verification Pricing: Cost per Usable Result

If you are pricing email verification, you want one number: what will it cost to clean my list and end up with addresses I can use? The price per credit does not answer that. The billing rules do, and they usually sit in an FAQ further down the pricing page.

Cost per usable result: the number worth comparing

Per-credit price tells you what a verification costs. It does not tell you what an answer costs. Use this instead:

Cost per usable result = what you paid ÷ the number of addresses you can now act on (send to, or remove).

An unknown is not usable. A duplicate you paid for twice adds nothing. A bare catch-all flag is not usable either, because you still have to decide whether to send. A catch-all with a clear verdict is.

The billing rules that decide the real price

Two verifiers with the same per-credit price can send very different bills for the same list. Check these six rules before you buy.

Are unknown results charged?

An unknown result means the receiving server deferred the check, blocked it or timed out. How email verification works explains why a rigorous verifier returns unknown instead of guessing.

Unknowns are most common on lists with many Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 domains. If a verifier charges for them, you pay full price for addresses you still cannot act on, and pay again when you re-check them. RocketVerifier never charges for unknown results.

Are catch-all addresses charged extra?

A catch-all domain accepts mail for any address. Every verifier flags catch-all domains; what differs is what happens next. Some stop at the flag and leave the decision to you. Some sell a second scoring step at extra credits per address.

Are duplicates charged?

Lists merged from a CRM, a webinar export and an old spreadsheet often contain the same address several times. RocketVerifier never charges for duplicates in a bulk list, so you can upload the merged file as it is.

Are bounces refunded?

Most bounce guarantees pay only above a high bounce rate, and only after you file a claim. Connect SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES or Postmark and RocketVerifier refunds every hard bounce on an address it marked deliverable, automatically, within 30 days, and adds the address to your suppression list. Do credits expire?

Expiry costs you money whenever you buy more than you use. Buy 100,000 credits and use 60,000 before they lapse, and your real price per verification is two thirds higher than the sticker. RocketVerifier pay-as-you-go credits never expire, and monthly and yearly plan credits roll over.

What is the smallest purchase, and how far do free credits go?

If you verify a few thousand addresses at a time, a large minimum pack forces you to overbuy. RocketVerifier’s smallest pack is 1,000 credits for $6. Subscription discounts and when they pay off

RocketVerifier monthly plans are 15% off pay-as-you-go and yearly plans 25% off. 100,000 credits a month is $229 on a monthly plan or $202 a month on a yearly plan, against $269 pay-as-you-go, and unused credits roll over.
